In
May 1989 the Boat Band gathered in Wendy’s shed to record some
product for their forthcoming inaugural tour. At the start of June,
they finished fitting out “Harbinger”, an old wooden Admiralty
launch; piled in; and sailed out of Glasson Dock, Lancaster, after the
pubs shut. Then it was north and west to adventure. With a dinghy loaded
with instruments and a box of cassettes for sale they started the first
of a series of raids on the islands of the Hebrides. These are the songs
and tunes they took with them |
